To mark the initiation of 100-day campaign related to Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in J&K, an Interaction Session on the topic “Drug Abuse” was organized at Government Degree College (GDC) Marheen on 15-04-2026 under the nationwide initiative, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, with the objective of raising awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a drug-free lifestyle among students. The programme was conducted under the able guidance and leadership of the respected Principal Ma’am Prof.(Dr) Anupama Gupta, whose inspiring words motivated students to actively participate in this noble cause. The proceedings of the programme commenced with an opening address by Dr. Shallu Rani, HOD, Department of Dogri, she highlighted the importance of awareness and community participation in combating drug abuse. An insightful lecture was delivered by Prof. Anoop Sharma, Convener of IQAC, who elaborated on the psychological, social, and economic impacts of substance abuse. He encouraged students to make informed choices and act as ambassadors of change within their communities. He addressed the gathering and emphasized the crucial role of youth in eradicating the menace of drugs from society. He urged students to adopt healthy lifestyles, remain focused on their education, and contribute as responsible citizens. Dr. Balbinder Singh (Convener of NMBA) delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal madam, faculty members, and students for their active participation and support in making the event a success. The other faculty members who graced the occasion: Dr Arun Dev Singh, Prof. Anoop Sharma, Dr Munisha Devi, Dr Shallu Rani, Prof. Manu Saini, Prof Charan Singh, Dr Priti Khajuria, Dr Reemi Verma and Dr Sonia Saini.
